From March 9 to 12, Lei Junqiang, Vice President of the First Hospital of Lanzhou University (LZUFH), and Dr. Jiang Lei, Director of the Sixth Ward of the Department of General Surgery, were invited to attend the International Forum on Quality and Safety in Healthcare in Oslo, Norway. Co-hosted by the BMJ (British Medical Journal) Group and the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI), the forum is one of the most influential academic events in the field of global healthcare quality improvement. Under the theme "Collective collaboration to address global health system challenges," the forum centered on core topics including healthcare equity and innovative development, smart healthcare and health service upgrading, and medical education and talent cultivation.

On March 9, the International Senior Leaders Summit was held at Nova Spektrum in Lillestrøm, Oslo, bringing together medical experts, hospital administrators, and industry leaders from around the world. During the summit, Prof. Lei Junqiang and the Chinese delegation visited Diakonhjemmet Hospital in Norway. As a well-known comprehensive hospital in Norway, Diakonhjemmet has extensive practical experience in healthcare service models, humanistic care, and hospital information system development. Prof. Lei Junqiang engaged in in-depth discussions with the hospital's management and clinical experts on topics such as the hospital's operational management system, disciplinary development planning, and training models for medical staff.

On March 10, the Chinese delegation attended a meeting with editors of BMJ journals. Prof. Lei Junqiang introduced the clinical, educational, and research work of LZUFH to the attendees and exchanged views with the editor-in-chief of BMJ and editors of various sub-journals on core topics such as medical writing standards, topic selection strategies for international journals, and the international dissemination of research achievements. The BMJ editorial team provided detailed introductions to their journal's review criteria, publication processes, and priority research frontiers. They acknowledged LZUFH's recent publications in international medical journals and offered advice on manuscript submissions.

During the forum's academic exchange sessions, Prof. Lei Junqiang and other Chinese experts also participated in panel discussions on publishing quality improvement research papers, sharing strategies for submitting to journals such as BMJ Quality & Safety and BMJ Open Quality. In various sub-forums, the LZUFH delegation engaged in academic discussions with medical experts from around the world on topics including precision medicine and personalized treatment, as well as geriatric medicine and healthy aging. They shared the hospital's research progress in these fields and reached preliminary cooperation intentions with several international medical and academic institutions.

Since its establishment in 1996, the International Forum on Quality and Safety in Healthcare has been dedicated to driving continuous improvement in global healthcare quality. By actively learning from cutting-edge medical concepts and management experience through this forum, LZUFH aims to further strengthen its disciplinary development, talent cultivation, and research innovation, continuously enhance the quality of medical services and management levels, and provide patients with even better, more efficient, and safer healthcare services.
