The Master Class “mini-invasive thoracic surgery” III edition, jointly organized by the Tor Vergata University of Rome, the First Hospital of Lanzhou University (LZUFH), and Shanghai Pulmonary Hospital, was recently concluded in Rome, Italy. More than 50 thoracic surgery experts and clinical leaders from 10 countries attended the event, engaging in high-level discussions on minimally invasive techniques and academic exchange.

As one of the co-organizers and one of the first international single-port thoracoscopic training bases in China, the Department of Thoracic Surgery of the First Hospital of Lanzhou University was invited to deliver a keynote report at the masterclass. The presentation systematically shared the department’s recent technological innovations and clinical practice outcomes in thoracoscopic minimally invasive diagnosis and treatment, showcasing the development level of Chinese thoracic surgery in this field. The content was highly recognized and praised by both domestic and international experts. During the meeting, the department reached a deep cooperation intention with the Department of Thoracic Surgery of the Tor Vergata University of Rome, agreeing to carry out regular collaboration in talent training, minimally invasive technical cooperation, teleconsultation, and joint research, jointly promoting the innovation and development of thoracoscopic minimally invasive techniques.

This successful hosting of the Master class not only fully demonstrated the comprehensive strength of the Department of Thoracic Surgery of the First Hospital of Lanzhou University in minimally invasive techniques and further enhanced its international academic influence, but also built a solid bridge for academic exchange and technical collaboration in thoracic surgery between China and Europe.
